Not that it needed any extra spice, but the Cobram-Barooga footy rivalry will go up a notch next season after one of the Goulburn Valley League’s most potent forward assets announced he’s departing Mooroopna to head north.

Dazzling key forward Jackson Trengove has signed off on his time at the Cattery, leaving to join Cobram in the Murray Football League.
He leaves with quite the GVL record to look back on.
Trengove, a former Western Bulldogs and Port Adelaide spearhead, claimed the 2023 goal-kicking prize with 59 majors from 17 games in his first full year in the league.

The 196cm gunslinger, who joined Mooroopna midway through 2022 from Barooga, is now moving to his former club’s cross-town rival for 2024.
It’s no coincidence Mooroopna made its first final tilt in eight years while Trengove was among the rank and file.
He was a revelation in the Cats’ 2022 and 2023 elimination bouts, booting four and five against Rochester and Euroa respectively.
The key tall will bolster the Tigers’ spine in 2024 and no doubt boost the club’s chances of playing finals after missing out last season.
It has been a busy off-season for the Tigers.
Cobram announced last week that ex-player Izac Artavilla would return to the club following a year in the GVL.

Artavilla played all 18 games for Shepparton last season as he stepped up to play at a higher level alongside former Tiger teammates Adam De Cicco and Tyron Baden.
The silky mover returns to Scott Oval alongside the returning Baden, who is set to co-coach the club in 2024 with Tim Garlick.
