Murray league

It was a tough day on the netball courts for both Cobram and Barooga in the Murray Netball League on the weekend, with all eight senior sides going down to strong opposition.

In the A-grade match, Barooga faced a third-placed Tongala, who were too strong for the Hawks, taking the win 58-34.

In B-grade, third-placed Tongala also took the chocolates, winning against Barooga 46-30, in C-grade 57-28 and in C-reserve 51-35

Cobram’s A-grade side also struggled, going down 40-29, while its C-grade went down 44-36 and C-reserve lost 35-26.

Cobram only missed out by a close four goals in its B-grade match against Numurkah, going down 42-38.

Picola league

In the Picola north-west division, Strathmerton celebrated another win for its A-grade side, beating Picola United 58-45.

After a few position changes, the girls worked hard to extend a lead after a slow start to finish with a good win.

It was another strong performance from B-grade, who also won 60-49, C-grade took the honours 40-28 and C-reserve went down 35-23.

Yarroweyah had a nail-bitingly close finish in its B-grade match against Deni Rovers, going down by just one goal at the final siren, 49-48.

C-grade had a close win, taking the honours 51-48 in another strong match, while C-reserve were outclassed by a very strong Deni team, going down 46-22.

●In the south-east division, Katamatite came very close against Dookie, going down by just five goals, 52-47.

Tigers’ B-grade also posted a loss, 43-32, as did C-grade 70-25 and C-reserve 61-4.
