Strathmerton Football Netball Club celebrated its future stars last Friday, September 13, with some Bulldogs young guns cleaning up at the junior best and fairest vote count.

In the under-17 football, Harry Barnes claimed the Gordon Powles Memorial best and fairest after a brilliant season ahead of runner-up Blake Humphries.

Ethan Bovalina was named most determined, Mitchell O’Brien the most consistent and Coby Humphries the most improved after all enjoying good form on the field, as did Jai Stephens who scooped the coaches’ award and Jayden Edgar, who led the goalkicking for his side.
In the under-14 football, Nash Bayne earned the most consistent award, with Robert Patmore named most consistent, Archer Wood the most improved and Preston Power claiming the best first-year player gong.
Konnah Safe and Mykel Argus claimed the coaches’ awards, sponsored by Tim Bramich and Michael Keane respectively, while Derek Muckenthaler took home the goalkicking award and Tyler Holt was named the best player in finals.
Under-15 netballers Lily Graham, Brylie Barnes, Mathilda Trimble and Matilda Waser all scooped awards.
On the netball court, Ashlee Dyson capped a stellar year by winning the under-17 best and fairest ahead of runner-up Alina Corso, while Amy Wyatt earned the one-percenter award and Eva Laidlaw scooped the coaches’ award.
In the under-15 ranks, Alexia Iddles was named best and fairest, with Matilda Waser finishing as runner-up and also claiming the sportsmanship award.
Brylie Barnes was named most determined, Lily Graham the most consistent and Mathilda Trimble rounded out the awards with the most improved trophy.
Under-13 netball award winners Lily Humphries, Rosie Stokes, Darci Carmody and Claudia Ciccone.
Claudia Ciccone claimed the under-13 best and fairest ahead of runner-up Darci Carmody, while Rosie Stokes earned the most determined award, Lily Humphries was named most improved and Tamika Arundel took home the coaches’ award.
Katelyn O’Brien was named the senior club person of the year.
There were a number of other awards presented on the evening also, with Katelyn O’Brien being named senior club person of the year, while Makayla Hughes and R.J. Patmore were named winners of the junior club person of the year award for netball and football respectively.

It was a special night also for Nicole Hughes, who was presented life membership of Strathmerton Football Netball Club by Julie Madgwick and Amy Carter in recognition of her long-standing commitment to the club.
