For Katamatite Saturday’s game was significant for more reasons than just the football result.

While the Tigers picked up a solid 11.13 (79) to 3.8 (26) win over Rennie at home, the match marked game number 200 for playing coach Jedd Wright.

Part of the club since the 1990s and senior coach since 2018, Wright is Katamatite through and through and the mentor kicked two goals to celebrate the occasion.

Alongside Wright, Patrick Riordan stood out for the Tigers, while Wright’s brother Sam kicked four goals in the much-needed win.

Elsewhere, Strathmerton travelled to Katunga for a top-four clash, coming away with an impressive 14.10 (94) to 7.11 (53) win.

A big second half ultimately proved the difference in this one, with Katunga leading at both quarter-time and half-time before Strathmerton stepped up in the second half.

Speaking to the Shepparton News, Bulldogs coach Tim Bramich said Katunga had the better of the contest early.

“Inside 50s were pretty tight for the day and they had the better of it early. They beat us around the footy which we aren’t used to, so it took us a bit to adjust to that,” Bramich said.
