Mathoura has clinched an exhilarating 39-33 win over Jerilderie at the weekend, picking up an important four points on a milestone weekend for a number of Cutters netballers.
After a disappointing defeat to Blighty last time out in Picola District Netball League, Mathoura’s A-grade outfit rose to the occasion on Saturday and ensured midcourter Casey Parsons’ 100th game for the club would be one to remember.
Milestones were also celebrated in Mathoura’s C-grade match-up, where Cindy Falzon ran out for a remarkable 300th game, while Emma O’Callaghan ticked off her 200th.
In other A-grade action on Saturday, Strathmerton secured a vital six-goal triumph over Katunga, coming away from the Swans’ home court with a hard-fought 45-39 win.
The Bulldogs cruise back up to second spot and equal on points with Waaia after the win, although the Bombers have what may yet prove to be a vital game in hand.
Blighty was the latest side to fall to the high-flying Bombers in a lopsided 62-27 defeat for the Redeyes.
Meanwhile, Katamatite did the business with a 66-53 win over a plucky Rennie to push itself back inside top-four contention.
The win had Tesslyn Saunders’ side return to the winners’ list after two straight defeats to Strathmerton and Waaia respectively.
Tungamah got the job done against Picola United 45-30, a win which positions the Bears firmly in third and four points adrift of the top two.
Katandra remains in the hunt for a finals bout after cruising past Deniliquin Rovers 42-26.
Tocumwal had the bye.
