The celebration of life will be held at the Tocumwal Aviation Museum on Wednesday, July 8 at 11am.
Bob Brown was a true gentleman who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He had a lifetime interest in aviation. Moving from Melbourne to Tocumwal in 1989, he became aware of the latent history of the aerodrome.
In 1995, the year of ‘Australia Remembers’, Bob was elected president of the newly formed Tocumwal Historic Aerodrome Museum (THAM).
For more than 25 years he made a major contribution towards saving, preserving, and acknowledging the important elements of Tocumwal's history during World War II.
Notably, he organised two reunions for RAAF and WAAAF veterans in the years 2000 and 2010.
It was in 2010 the ¼ scale Liberator Bomber was pole-mounted at the entrance of the Tocumwal Golf Club. It is now safely housed in the new Tocumwal Aviation Museum.
There are monuments, plaques, signs, aircraft replicas and the brilliant blue entrance gates at the aerodrome site announcing arrival at Tocumwal Historic Museum, all thanks to Bob.
He recorded the aerodrome history in books and on CD's and regularly told the story of wartime Tocumwal to school groups, Probus Clubs, Car Clubs, and coach loads of tourists.
Bob's tireless efforts were recognised in May 2022 when he was awarded an OAM.
Bob, aged 96, passed away on Thursday, March 5 at Tocumwal Hospital after a short illness.
