Go Orange
Hold tight - we’re checking permissions before loading more content
Kyabram SES has invited community members to visit its headquarters at Kuhle Crt to celebrate Wear Orange Wednesday.
The day is a chance for the community to wear something orange to recognise and thank more than 40,000 SES volunteers across Australia.
Wearing orange at your workplace or school for just one day a year is a simple way of showing our SES volunteers you appreciate their hard work and dedication to community safety.
Kyabram SES deputy controller Beth Murray said the day was an opportunity to show the volunteers how highly they were valued.

Fishers to be Ritchies
Shoppers should enjoy a few dollars off their docket when they visit Kyabram’s new Ritchies IGA store from July 18.
Fishers Supa IGA Kyabram manager Chris O’Shannassy said Ritchies had greater buying power than Fishers Supa IGA because it owned a larger number of supermarkets under the Supa IGA banner.
‘‘The store will be more competitive with Woolworths, which will be more beneficial for the Kyabram community,’’ he said.
Mr O’Shannassy said the store’s transition from a Fishers Supa IGA to a Ritchies would be much smoother than its change from Kings Foodworks supermarket in 2009.

College aces are state bound
Four Kyabram P-12 College Year 7 boys are hitting aces and heading to the Victorian Schools tennis finals at Boroondara later this year.
Thomas Liversidge, Zane Sutton, Corey Browne and Jack Norris were the only Kyabram team to compete in the Loddon Mallee zone school tennis finals in Mildura last Monday, accounting for the two opposing college teams comfortably.
For their matches, they each played a singles set and paired for doubles.
The boys won their first match against Swan Hills McKillop College five sets to one; however, their next match saw them face a strong Bendigo Catholic College outfit.
The boys all started slowly in their singles matches, with a couple down 0-3 games before rallying to turn the sets around.

Father and sons who bowl together stay together
At every sporting venue around the country, you can spot patient dads trudging off after their ambitious sons and daughters.
The younger generation champ feverishly at the bit to get into the action, often leaving their older companions for the dead.
The fathers watch on knowingly that their duty, no matter how tiresome it may be, is to be there to support their proteges.
Meet two father and son combinations who put a fine twist on this picture.
Merrigum Bowls Club Lilford and Fitzgerald combinations, between them, have amassed 48 years bowling time.

That flag look is back again
That glint of premiership glory returned to the Bombers’ eyes at Euroa on Saturday.
The signs were definitely there in the Bombers 15-14 to 12.16 win that successive premierships isn’t the impossible dream at Bomberland.
Of course there is a long way to go, probably better teams than Euroa to overcome, but it is the most definite sign of the year that the Bombers are gradually, but surely, moulding a team that just has to be in the thick of things when that part of the season that counts comes around in September.
Coach Peter Lyon stated at the start of the season it would take the Bombers six or seven matches to “sort themselves out” and his prediction looks like being spot on after Saturday.
