Police said the woman was crossing the road in Cressy St - in the block between Napier and Hardinge St - when she was struck by a reversing vehicle.
Witnesses said it was a white ute, which allegedly did not stop after the incident.
The 80 year-old was treated at the scene by Ambulance NSW paramedics before being taken to Deniliquin Hospital for further assessment.
Police described her injuries as “non-life threatening”.
Witnesses were able to provide a description of the ute to police, but not a number plate. Investigations are ongoing.

Disqualified charge
A 43 year-old man has been charged for driving while disqualified following a traffic stop on Deniliquin on Friday, April 24.
Sighted on Harfleur St, Deniliquin, the stopped driver reportedly told police he was a suspended driver when asked to produce his licence.
Checks revealed the man’s licence was disqualified for a period of 12 months, following a court appearance in February this year.
Further checks revealed the number plates on the stopped car belonged to a different vehicle and had been cancelled.
The driver is expected to appear in court on the charges.
