Instead of fundraising for the shelter itself, Dutch Thunder is encouraging supporters and the wider community to stand alongside its team members as they “go pink” in support of the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
The annual NBCF GO PINK campaign encourages Australians to “Wear it, Shave it, or Colour it” to help raise vital funds and awareness for breast cancer research.
The campaign supports groundbreaking research focused on prevention, early detection and improved treatment options, all with the goal of achieving zero deaths from breast cancer.
For Dutch Thunder Wildlife Rescue founders James and Kylee Donkers, the campaign is deeply personal.
“We are doing this to support our family and friends who have fought and won, and in memory of those who have fought and sadly lost,” Kylee said.
Throughout June, Dutch Thunder Wildlife Rescue will proudly become the Dutch Thunder Wildlife Pink Galahs, with the group inviting the community to get involved, spread awareness and help raise funds for this “incredibly important cause”.
Kylee said the organisation would share something pink on its Facebook page every day throughout June.
“From animals and rescues, to cars, clothes, surprises and more, even maybe you if you share your ‘pinkness’ — so stay tuned and keep an eye out for all the pink fun along the way,” she said.
“We would absolutely love our family, friends, followers, supporters and local community members to join our team and go pink with us.
“Together, we can help support life-changing breast cancer research — for people and for the animals we love.”
