This week, drivers going through the bottle shop would have looked twice as bottles of alcohol were joined by crates of colourful, fresh fruit and vegetables.
Cobram Hotel owner Adam Rudd said the business was now selling fresh fruit and vegetables.
“While it's not viable at the moment to open our bistro, we are trying to diversify and grow the business in ways we can,” he said.
“I think the coronavirus and social distancing will be a thing we will have to live with for quite some time, so this is a way people can conveniently and safely get their supplies.
“People don’t even have to get out of their car if they don’t want to,” he said.
Bottle shop staff started selling the fruit and vegetables last Wednesday and sold out in the first day.
The fruit and vegetables come from Midland Fresh in Mulwala, with fresh stock delivered to the shop daily.
Mr Rudd said the hotel needed their tills to continue to tick over.
“They are really good competitive prices and in a great convenient location,” he said.
Mr Rudd asked locals to watch the space as the business would soon open a larger shop, similar to a convenience store, and would also sell takeaway lunch deals such as hot roast rolls.
“We are constantly evolving,” he said.
“We are really trying to focus on boosting our takeaway business during this time and take advantage of our location in town.
“We have been doing around 1000 takeaway and pickup meals a week, so it's going better than we ever expected,” he said.
The bottle shop is open from 7 am to 9 pm.
