It’s officially Book Week, which means the free Book Week Fun Day is now just days away.

The Edward River Library event will be held this Friday at the library, starting at 2pm, bringing together reading, creativity and community connection through writing, art, poetry and music.
As part of this year’s Symphony of Stories theme, children and young people have been invited to create poems using collages of cut-out words and images sourced from library materials or items from home.
Entries submitted before last week’s closing date will be displayed as part of the fun day.
Library coordinator Christine Evola said the competition encouraged children to explore storytelling in a fun, creative and accessible way, showing that stories can be created from everyday materials.
The fun day will also feature free family-friendly activities including scavenger hunts, crafts, games, pavement art and a free Rotary barbecue. Costumes are encouraged.
A live radio broadcast will run from 2pm to 3pm, followed by recordings of selected poetry entries throughout the afternoon.
