O'NEILL, Brian "Bronco"

Proudly revered Australian Seaman, Unionist, Socialist and Internationalist.

Dearly loved husband of Gloria.

Much loved father and grandfather.

Brian went to sea at 15 from Port Adelaide on the Moonta and finished his distinguished career as Bosun of the MT Tasman, on 23 January 2002.

A lifelong member of the Seamen's Union of Australia and Maritime Union of Australia, Brian was an erudite and selfless leader who dedicated his life to the working class and to advancement of Australian Shipping Industry along with mentoring younger members.

In retirement, he served as Chairman and Treasurer of the MUA Veterans Association and remained a familiar face at stop work meetings, rallies and demonstrations and lived the MUA Vets slogan “Retired from the Workforce, not from the Struggle.”
