Tribute to Hans-Egon Bruno Bernhard Metzner from his Loving Daughter Jackie. Dad was born on the 14.12.1937 in Nordheim, Germany and then immigrated to Australia with his whole family 1955. Soon after arriving in Australia, Dad went straight to work at the Cessnock Coal Mines to help support his parents and family. Dad was the eldest of 4 children, his 3 brothers Dieter, John and Wolfgang and his sister Inge. Thank you for your love and support that you provided me at the Ice Rink. Sunday’s was just for family, you would pack us all in a car with no plans of destination, whatever the adventure they are wonderful memories. His love for Soccer was in his blood. He was a well-respected player and then later Captain for the German Concordia Club, loved following Sydney FC, travelled to the World Cups in 1974 & 2008. But his lifelong achievements were his passion for Cranes. He lived and breathed cranes, his dedication to safety and all crane drivers were far more important to him than anything else. On my visits to Sydney CBD as I look up at numerous buildings, I will always remember “Dad you were involved in this building or that building”. Dad loved to travel Europe, Asia, Africa, USA and Australia. If there was a party to be had, he let his hair down and just enjoyed every moment of it. I will always remember you for your warmth and generosity not just to your family, but to the numerous Charities that you supported including your life long membership of the RFD, Care Flight, Lutheran Church and these are just some of the many charities you donated to during your life. Dad, thank you for loving my Husband Kieran and his family. Kieran loved you very much and the joy the 3 of us shared watching footy you screamed Parramatta, Kieran screamed Dragons and I screamed Sharks - we had fun. Dad thank you for encouraging me to work hard, achieve goals that I didn’t think I could achieve, push me but then praised me for all my achievements. I will be forever grateful for the beautiful times we got to spend one on one and will cherish those forever. As I sadly say Good Bye for now Dad, I know you are looking down on me and I will see you again and give you that warm hug, gentle kiss and of course that belly laugh. Dad you truly were an exceptional man and hope you know how much I loved you. You will be forever in my heart and will never be forgotten. All my love your loving daughter Jackie Tynan (Metzner) xxx
