The rain may have been falling, but it did little to dampen Cobram Roar’s determination as the Division 2 Women produced another impressive 5-1 victory over Albury City.
Albury City opened the scoring in the 10th minute, but Roar responded almost immediately. Just three minutes later, Maddi Simpson found the back of the net in the 13th minute to level the scores.
Roar continued to build momentum, with Holli Cameron striking twice in quick succession in the 24th and 25th minutes to give Cobram a 3-1 lead heading into the break.
The second half saw Roar continue their attacking pressure despite the challenging conditions. Bella Ward added another in the 48th minute to extend the lead to 4-1.

Cobram Roar FC Division 3 Men 2-2 Albury City FC Division 3 Men
The elements once again impacted the Division 3 Men’s game for the second week in a row, with the team battling against water at Apex Reserve this week instead of mud.
At risk of being called off due to the persistent rain and a water-logged pitch, both teams and the officials decided to play on.
The need to adjust playing style meant that the game was extremely scrappy - the ball sometimes stopping dead in its tracks in inches of water, and at other times skidding on by 30 metres or so.
The teams entered the half time break at 0-0, but two quick goals afterwards by Rocky Perri (45’) and Nicolas Russo (49’) saw Cobram in a good position in worsening conditions.
2-0 is often described as a difficult score line for teams, and this proved to be the fact.
Cobram conceded a penalty in the 52nd minute, which was put away off the fingers of Cobram’s Owen Stubbs, expertly diving the right way, but agonisingly seeing the ball go in the net.
The draw was secured by Albury City FC in the 56th minute, with their attacking threat beating Roar’s defence to a through ball, which was expertly put in the net from an angle deep in the box.
Cobram retains its fourth place on the ladder with two rounds of the home and away season left to play.
