Echuca’s hopes of another Goulburn Valley League A-grade final appearance were dashed on Sunday as the Murray Bombers fell narrowly to Mooroopna.

The preliminary final was hard fought and, despite trailing for most of the game, Echuca found itself in the lead in the last, but the Cats reeled off six goals to one in the final minutes to win 41-37.
Earlier, Mooroopna surged into the lead from the opening whistle starting the game how they would finish it, on a 6-1 run.
The Murray Bombers trailed by three at quarter-time, and by the same margin at the half, 20-17.
The Cats ticked one further ahead by the last break, but Echuca would make its move in the fourth, surging to the lead with nine minutes remaining.
The Murray Bombers held firm for several minutes, but with three and change on the clock would eventually surrender the lead, ending their season.
Mooroopna will play Euroa in the final.
