Cobram Roar under-12 Yellow boys have held onto top spot on the ladder after a hard-fought contest against second-placed Boomers FC, in what proved to be their toughest challenge of the season so far.
Coming up against its strongest competitor to date, Cobram was tested early, with Boomers applying pressure through quick ball movement and attacking speed. Despite a determined defensive effort, Cobram went into half time trailing 1-0.
Coaches challenged the boys during the break, urging them to trust each other more and improve their passing game. The message clearly hit home.
The second half saw a shift in momentum, with Cobram controlling possession and lifting the intensity across the ground. A key tactical move saw first-half goalkeeper Nathanael Sutton push forward into a striking role, and it paid off. Sutton found the back of the net after a well-delivered cross from Frankie Lean on the left wing, bringing Cobram level in style.
Defensively, captain Francois Carstens led from the front, organising a resilient backline alongside Kai Ramsdale, Bede Schwarz and Chanel Finai. The quartet worked tirelessly to shut down Boomers’ fast-paced passing attack, ensuring Cobram stayed in the contest.
While Roar dominated possession for large periods, they were unable to convert further chances into goals, leaving the match as a tight and tense battle until the final whistle.
Nathanael Sutton’s impact earned him best on ground honours, while the team as a whole showed grit and determination under pressure.
The result keeps Cobram Roar firmly on top of the ladder, proving they can match it with the very best as the season heats up.

A tightly contested match saw the under-13s battle hard to secure a 1-1 draw in an intense clash against the Boomers.
Boomers struck first, finding the back of the net, however, the under-13s responded with resilience and teamwork, eventually levelling the score with a well-worked goal that reflected their persistence.
A standout performance came from the team’s goalkeeper Zavier Kennedy, who delivered an exceptional effort between the posts. With multiple crucial saves, the keeper denied several scoring opportunities and played a key role in keeping the team in the game.
The 1-1 draw reflects a solid team effort and sets a strong foundation for the games ahead.

Boomers FC U14 Girls 0-5 Cobram Roar FC U14 Girls
Cobram Roar under-14 Girls took on Boomers White in an exciting match this week. Cobram came out strong, taking the lead early and maintained control throughout the game.
Indi Hemingway led the scoreboard with two goals, while Alexis Stewart also added two and Evie Hemingway contributed another, bringing the final score to an impressive 5–0 victory.
In goals, Marlee Bourke delivered an outstanding performance, stopping every shot that came her way and keeping Boomers scoreless.
Claudia was awarded best on ground for her fantastic effort, consistently stepping up and giving her all throughout the match. Great work, Claudia!
It was a fantastic team effort, with all the girls showing great teamwork, communication, and leadership on the field. Their ability to work together and support one another was evident from start to finish.

Boomers FC U14 Boys 2-2 Cobram Roar FC U14 Boys
The Cobram Roar under-14 boys delivered another impressive team performance, narrowly missing victory in a thrilling 2-2 draw against the Boomers in a spirited contest this weekend.
The first half featured end-to-end action, with Cobram creating several promising chances through sharp passing and relentless pressure. Despite strong defensive discipline from both sides, neither team could find a breakthrough, heading into halftime locked at 0-0.
The Boomers struck first early in the second half, capitalising on an opportunity to take the lead. Cobram responded with determination, lifting the intensity and finding a well-earned equaliser from Dom Siciliano to level the score at 1-1.
Building momentum, Cobram pushed forward with purpose and were rewarded when they took the lead with a goal from Abel Stilo, making it 2-1 and putting themselves in a strong position late in the match.
However, the Boomers managed a late equaliser, setting up a tense finish. Despite continued effort and energy from both sides in the closing minutes, neither team could find a winner.
Once again, Cobram Roar demonstrated outstanding teamwork, resilience, and spirit, with every player contributing to a performance that highlights their continued growth as a squad.

Wodonga Diamonds FC U16 Boys 4-1 Cobram Roar FC U16 Boys
Wodonga Diamonds FC produced a dominant second-half performance to defeat Cobram Roar FC 4-1 after trailing at the break.
Cobram struck first in the opening half, with Bosco Su finding the net to give the visitors an early advantage and put Diamonds under pressure heading into half time.
However, the match turned dramatically after the interval. Wodonga Diamonds came out with renewed intensity, controlling possession and creating sustained attacking pressure. Their persistence paid off as they equalized early in the second half, before adding three more goals in quick succession.
The four unanswered goals showcased Diamonds’ attacking depth and composure, as they overwhelmed Cobram’s defence and sealed a convincing 4-1 victory.
Despite a promising start and Su’s opener, Cobram Roar were unable to maintain the momentum, while Wodonga’s strong finish proved decisive.

Boomers FC Div 2 Men 5-0 Cobram Roar FC Div 2 Men
This fixture was all set to be an intriguing mid-table battle, but was turned on its head within 15 minutes, following the dismissal of Roar’s goalkeeper, John Fula, for handling the ball outside of his area.
What followed was an exercise in structure adjustment, resolute teamwork and high levels of determination by all Roar team members.
Boomers’ attacking threats were limited to shots from outside of the area on most occasions, but the wet conditions made it extremely challenging for stand-in keeper, Ayden Burrows, who stepped-up and performed for the team in impressive fashion, to keep out the sustained waves of attacks.
Boomers FC Div 1 Men 2-2 Cobram Roar FC Div 1 Men
The Division 1 men produced a determined performance on the road, coming away with a hard-fought 2-2 draw to maintain their unbeaten start to the season.
The visitors opened the scoring through H. Malique, but the hosts responded to level things up, sending the sides into half time locked at 1-1.
The challenge intensified early in the second half when the opposition struck first to take the lead, while the visitors were already down to 10 men, with serious concerns for the referee, who was at risk of RSI due to the number of cards shown throughout the match.
Despite the disadvantage, the team showed tremendous resilience, defending strongly and refusing to give in.
Their persistence paid off late, with D. Goodwin finding the equaliser in the 85th minute to secure a valuable point.
