Meyland said he really enjoys being a part of the club, and was excited about continuing his time there next year.
“I suppose it shows a little bit of faith on both parties that we’re moving in the right direction, and on to bigger and better things,” he said.
“I really enjoy the club; it’s been a very inviting club to be a part of. The list of guys is very committed, in the way there’s a really good local core of guys who do the work outside of footy.
“That’s really pleasing to see.”
The announcement was made on Friday, June 6, to a room packed full of Tigers during celebrations to mark the club’s historic 1995 premiership sweep across football and netball.
“I suppose coming in this year, even though you’ve got an idea of what the list is, until you see it in action, you need a bit of time to get a grasp on it,” Meyland said.
“So moving forward has focused that vision of what areas we could use players in, as far as recruitment goes, and continually trying to develop our local boys.
“The first thing is we obviously want them to recommit and buy in to what we’re trying to do over the next season.”
It comes as Cobram’s senior side is set to get a boost when skipper Sam Beasley returns to the field after sustaining a wrist injury earlier this season.
“The downside is that with injuries, we’ve been inconsistent with our team,” Meyland said.
“And that definitely plays into the way the team operates.
“We’re hopeful we’ll get the team on the park again, apart from Harry (Beasley, off with an ACL injury). But it’s given the other guys a chance to play footy that they probably wouldn’t have had.”
Cobram’s senior side finds itself trailing fourth-placed Mulwala on the MFL ladder by about 16 percentage points.
Both are tied on six wins and three losses.
A formidable Congupna outfit continues to ride the crest of the standings with a formidable 561.32 percentage points, oceans ahead of second-placed Moama on 184.99 percentage points after the weekend.
