Midweek Pennant
The A2 side travelled to Club Mulwala and had a handy 13-shot win.
Adam Larkins, John Danaher, Andy Dickins and Allen Bartlett led all the way and came out 11 shots in front, 25 to 14.
Marree Jones, Tony Coughlin, Rod Garthwaite and Raz Porter were close all the way, losing 18 to 20.
Ken Mollinson, Ketch, Kaz Hughes and Ken Widdison kept in front all the game, winning 24 to 20.
The B1 side had a pleasant drive to Myrtleford and recorded a comfortable 27 shot win.
Judy Black, Lex Thornton, Bev Pilfoot and Peter Summerill started slowly, then scored 10 shots in 2 ends to take the lead, winning comfortably 28 to 14.
Brian Houlihan, Darryl Brown, Gary Brown and Anne Summerill were close all the game, but finished well to win 17 to 15.
Dom Carroll, Susie Swift, Keith Mills and Les Pilfoot also had a big finish to win 25 to 14.
The B2 side played Yarrawonga at home and had a close match, losing by 4 shots.
Dux MacQueen, Rhonda Clark, Greg Keyte and Tony Fierenzi were 10 down after 10 ends and couldn’t breach the gap, losing 11 to 25.
Lynne Ewison, Anne Smith, Laurie Way and John Creighton had a strong game and won 27 to 9.
Ros Lewis, Roly Nixon, Wendy Robb and Peter Mills were strong in the middle but were well beaten in the last 7 ends to lose 13 to 21.
The B3 side played Howlong and were outclassed, going down by 59 shots.
Roseann Prentice, Pam Lee, Neville McPherson and Joan Wood lost 13 to 35.
Kelli-Anne Briggs, Jenny Lawrence, Rosemary Baddeley and Ross Ewison lost 8 to 26.
Janet Mills, Gordon Nightingale, Robyn Fierenzi and Garry Neill lost 11 to 30.
Weekend Pennant
A1 played YMGCR at Mulwala and had a nail-biting one-shot loss.
Justin Robb, Keith Mills, Allen Bartlett and Jordan Thornton led for most of the game and won 22-19.
Adam Larkins, Andy Dickins, Danny Webb and Scott Widdison led all the way and won convincingly, 22-12.
Maree Jones, Rod Garthwaite, Wayne Lee and Shawn McMahon also led all the way. The opposition came back, but they held on to win 18 to 16.
Kaz Hughes, Raz Porter, Ken Widdison and Stuart McNeill had a tough game and lost 14 to 30.
A4 played Benalla at home and won by 5 shots.
Brian Houlihan, Tony Coughlin, Susie Swift and Peter Summerill led all the way and won convincingly 25-15.
Chris Reilly, Rosemary Baddeley, Darryl Brown and Gary Brown led from the start, but finished slowly to win 19 to 17.
Lex Thornton, Sam Nixon, Les Pilfoot and Brenton Ketchell lost 16 to 22.
Peter Smith, Anne Summerill, Bev Pilfoot and Mark Brack were neck and neck all the game and lost 16 to 17.
B2 played St James at home and had a good 23 shot win.
Ros Lewis, Roly Nixon, Wendy Robb and Peter Mills were behind all game and lost 17 to 28.
Jenny Lawrence, Wally Langton, Anne Smith and Jeff Nixon had a good win, 23 to 16.
Janet Mills, Dux MacQueen, Lynne Ewison and Greg Keyte had a huge win, 32 to 5.
B3 played Wangaratta at home and lost by 20 shots.
Nate Jones, Lesley Rinehart, Gordon Nightingale and Joan Wood got off to a good start, but the opposition applied pressure, and they lost 14 to 29.
Levi Phibbs, Archie Bedford, Alma Muir and Ross Ewison had a close game, losing 16 to 18.
Marilyn Langton, Roseann Prentice, Rhonda Clark and Garry Neill also had a close game, losing 15 to 18.
It was great to see our three newest members, Nate, Levi and Archie make their pennant debut. Well done lads.
Thursday Rollers
The Rollers competition got away to a great start last Thursday evening with 12 teams taking part in the 4-week competition and several others coming along for a roll-up on the night. The “better bowlers” were on hand to assist with coaching, all enjoyed a BBQ and a fun game of bowls was had. Club Corowa is sponsoring the weekly prizes, our first winners were the team of Pat Rooney (a new bowler), Roseann Prentice and Jenny Lawrence (a second- year bowler). Well done ladies.
Ovens and Murray State Triples
The Women’s event will take place at the RSL greens on Sunday, November 5 starting at 10am
Club Championships
The Ladies Triples final was played and the team of Judy Black, Bev Pilfoot and Joan Wood played too well for the team of Ros Lewis, Maree Jones and Laurie Way. The game was close early, but team Wood piled on the pressure to take the lead and stayed in front.
The Men’s final is yet to be played, it will be between Ross Ewison, Hayden Brockley and Troy Brockley versus Greg Keyte, Ken Widdison and Scott Widdison.
