Roar under-12s Black went down 1-0 to Boomers under-12 Red in a hard-fought contest at the weekend. After trailing early, the team had several opportunities in the second half to level the scores but unfortunately couldn’t convert their chances. It wasn’t our best performance overall, but the players kept competing until the final whistle.

It was first versus second on the ladder as the Cobram Roar under-12 Yellow Boys faced a determined Boomers FC outfit in what proved to be their toughest test of the season.
Captain for the day, Kai Ramsdale, led by example as both teams came out firing from the opening whistle, each determined to stamp their authority on the contest and claim outright top spot on the ladder.
The breakthrough came from a moment of brilliance. Amir Mohamed delivered a perfectly weighted corner kick that found Billy Daniel, whose pinpoint header gave the Roar a deserved 1-0 lead. Boomers responded with plenty of pace and attacking pressure, forcing the Cobram defence to stay alert. Goalkeeper Uday Singh was outstanding between the posts, producing several crucial saves to preserve the lead as the boys went into half-time ahead 1-0.
Boomers wasted no time after the restart, finding an early equaliser to set up a thrilling second half. The Roar refused to be rattled, and Billy Daniel once again stepped up, scoring his second goal of the match to restore Cobram’s advantage.
The midfield battle was fiercely contested, with Wally Hargrave delivering an outstanding performance, controlling the centre of the park and helping the Roar regain momentum. Frankie Lean earned best on ground honours with a courageous performance, giving everything for his team despite carrying an injury that eventually forced him from the field.

The Cobram Roar under-14 Girls delivered another outstanding performance on home soil, dominating Boomers Red from the opening whistle to remain undefeated and firmly on top of the ladder.
The Roar applied relentless pressure from the outset, with Matoaka Kemper opening the scoring early to set the tone for an impressive team display. Cobram controlled possession throughout the match, showcasing excellent passing, smart movement, and strong teamwork that kept Boomers Red on the back foot.
Kemper finished with two goals, while Alexis Stewart continued her fine form with a brilliant hat-trick. Asha Gemmill also found the back of the net to complete the scoring in a comprehensive team victory.

A cold, misty morning set the scene as Cobram Roar took to their home ground with a full-strength squad, ready to face the Wodonga Diamonds in a fiercely contested match.
The Roar struck first in the opening half, with Gurhar Singh finding the back of the net after a determined attacking effort. The early goal rewarded Cobram’s positive play, with the forwards creating numerous chances throughout the match and keeping the Diamonds’ defence under constant pressure.
Wodonga Diamonds responded in the second half, levelling the scores with a well-taken goal. Despite the setback, the Roar refused to be rattled and continued to push forward in search of a winner.
At the other end of the field, goalkeeper Owen Stubbs produced a series of outstanding saves to deny the Diamonds on several occasions. His composure and quick reactions were instrumental in ensuring Cobram remained in the contest.

The Cobram Roar Division 2 Women produced a determined performance to claim a well-earned 2-0 victory over Boomers in a hard-fought contest.
Roar controlled the tempo throughout the match, applying relentless pressure from the opening whistle and refusing to give Boomers time on the ball. Their persistence was rewarded in the 30th minute when Maddi Simpson produced a moment of brilliance. Receiving the ball near the sideline, Maddi unleashed an incredible strike from a tight angle that curled into the back of the net, leaving the goalkeeper with no chance.
Cobram doubled their advantage when Laura Moras found the scoresheet in the 45th minute, calmly finishing to give Roar a deserved 2-0 lead.
Despite Boomers' efforts to fight back, Cobram maintained their intensity and continued to press for the entire match. Their disciplined defensive display and constant attacking pressure ensured they remained in control and secured a deserved clean sheet and three valuable points.
It was a complete team performance from Roar, highlighted by Maddi's spectacular opener and Laura's composed finish as Cobram celebrated another impressive Division 2 victory.

Cobram Roar FC are hitting their best form at exactly the right time of the season, producing another impressive performance with a commanding 5-0 victory over Boomers FC.
The win marked the Roar’s fourth consecutive victory, with Cobram continuing an outstanding run of form. Across those four matches, the Roar have scored a remarkable 26 goals while conceding just two, highlighting the strength of both their attacking threat and defensive organisation.
Cobram dominated much of the opening half and created numerous opportunities, but had to settle for a 1-0 lead at the break after sustained pressure eventually resulted in a Boomers FC own goal in the 27th minute.
Despite the narrow advantage, the Roar looked dangerous throughout the opening half, with missed chances keeping Boomers within striking distance. However, the second half saw Cobram turn their dominance into goals as they continued to apply pressure and pull away from their opponents.
Kieran O’Donnell doubled the advantage in the 66th minute before Henry Mbuthia extended the lead in the 74th. Jake Kalz added a fourth in the 83rd minute, while O’Donnell completed his brace in the 88th minute to round out another emphatic victory.
Coach Billy Marshall was delighted with the performance, describing it as the team’s most complete display of the season.
"It was a joy to watch the team today and definitely our most complete performance of the season. In possession, out of possession and in transition moments I thought we were excellent," Marshall said.
"Hopefully the boys continue to put these performances together against some tough opposition in the next few weeks heading into finals and build on this win."
Another clean sheet was a key highlight, with Cobram’s defensive structure continuing to provide the platform for their attacking success as they build towards finals.
The Roar now face their biggest challenge of this impressive run, travelling this weekend to take on second-placed Myrtleford. Cobram will be looking to even the score after a heartbreaking Round 8 encounter, where Myrtleford secured victory in extra time.
With confidence growing and momentum building, Cobram will enter the clash knowing they are a much-improved side since their previous meeting and will be eager to test themselves against one of the competition’s leading contenders.
