Mooroopna’s Sandy Thomas, Kyabram bowler Helen Chapman and Barooga stalwart Archie Ellis were among five bowlers from the Bendigo Campaspe Goldfields Region and the Goulburn Murray region to win a nomination from the month of December, three months out from the award’s closing date.
Robert Clough from the Bendigo East club and Talbot Bowling Club life member Robert Jackson also won the December selection.
The award recognises two players from each of the five playing areas every month from October to March, and at the end of the season all 60 nominated bowlers will be in contention for two $500 Bowler of the Year Awards (one for the Bendigo Campaspe Goldfields Region and the other for the Goulburn Murray region).
The December winners also immediately claim a $200 cash prize for their monthly selection.
In addition, five runners-up have received $100 vouchers for the Moama Bowling Club, including Goulburn Valley Playing Area’s Pam Pedder (Avenel), and Katandra West’s Greg Barr from the Murray region.
Warramunda Village chief executive officer John Clark said the award allows Warramunda Community Care to promote the changes to the delivery of in-home aged care services marked by the November 1 initiation of the new Aged Care Act.
“It has been a big couple of months for our Community Care business, which many people will know as Home Care, after the introduction of the new strengthened aged care standards and the changes to the Support at Home program,” Clark said.
“When we decided to push ahead with this concept we knew the focus would be on the award itself, but the feedback from bowlers and clubs has been fantastic in regard to their appetite to find out more about the new aged care operating conditions.”
