Corowa’s Jedd Longmire has been named captain of Assumption College's 1st XVlll football team and has featured in two big wins from the team’s two outings this season.
Assumption has dominated against arch-rival Penleigh and Essendon Grammar, and Peninsular Grammar in the AGSV (Associated Grammar Schools Victoria) competition.
Onballer Jedd, who turns 18-years-of-age in June, played last year’s last home and away game for Corowa-Rutherglen.
He played the first four games this season with the Murray Bushrangers and the last two with Assumption College.
It is believed Jedd is the first footballer ever from Corowa to lead the college team. “We’re pretty proud of it,” his Dad, Beau, told The Free Press.
“And Jedd is too. Brent Harvey’s son Cooper also plays in the team.” Harvey senior played an AFL record 432 games, with North Melbourne.
Corowa-Rutherglen Football Netball Club coach Stuart Lingham described Jedd’s selection as captain as great. “This is a great honour as this school has a long tradition of being a great and successful football school,” the president said.
