The grants aim to increase opportunities for people with disability to participate in sport and recreation across regional Victoria.
With applications closing on August 12, state Member for Ovens Valley Tim McCurdy is encouraging local clubs and organisations to apply.
He said the program was an important opportunity for local organisations to create more inclusive and accessible environments.
“Sport and recreation should be something everyone can enjoy, regardless of ability,” Mr McCurdy said.
“These grants can help local clubs remove barriers, improve accessibility and create more opportunities for people with disability to get involved and feel part of their community.”
Funding is available across three categories, including equipment and travel, inclusion workforce, and programs and disability-led initiatives.
Eligible projects include purchasing modified equipment and assistive technology, reducing travel costs, employing specialised support staff, developing ongoing participation programs and supporting disability-led initiatives.
“Ovens Valley is home to many outstanding sporting clubs and community organisations that work hard to bring people together,” Mr McCurdy said.
“I encourage eligible groups to take advantage of this funding and consider how it could help make their club or organisation even more inclusive.”
Grants of up to $25,000 are available through each category.
To be eligible, an organisation must be not-for-profit and non-government, be a legal entity, deliver activities that encourage participation in sport, active recreation or physical activity, and deliver project funding in one of Victoria’s 48 regional and rural council areas.
