This year, $18,000 is being shared among 16 community organisations, helping local groups bring Christmas cheer to 14 towns.
Festive activities receiving grants include community parties and barbecues, Carols by Candlelight events, Christmas lunches and decorations to light up our towns.
Moira Shire Council chair administrator Graeme Emonson said Christmas was about community spirit, and local clubs, committees and volunteer groups turned that spirit into real events.
“From our largest towns to our smallest communities, the Festive Funding program makes it possible for volunteers and community groups to put on the carols, markets and celebrations that make Christmas so special across Moira Shire,” he said.
Council will also roll out its own annual decorations in early December ― watch out for Christmas trees, reindeer and koalas and giant wreaths.
