The minor works are part of a broader $1.1 million intersection upgrade program around Cobram and Strathmerton, funded through the national Black Spot Program.
The intersections along Labuan Rd are: Fowlers and MacArthur Rds, Boards and Churchill Rds, Montgomery Rd, Rankins Rd, and Spences and Blamey Rds.
Works included pavement repairs and widening, line marking and signage upgrades, line of sight improvements and road shoulder and drainage repairs.
Moira Shire Council Chair Administrator Graeme Emonson said road safety was a key priority for council, especially concerning addressing known or high-risk accident locations.
“Our rural roads are important in connecting our families to our major towns and as thoroughfares to major arterial roads,” Dr Emonson said.
“It’s important we are upgrading all of our roads, including our rural roads network, which will help create safer journeys and improve visibility at risky intersections.”
Work is under way in partnership with the Victorian Department of Transport to finalise designs for two other intersection upgrades as part of the upgrade package.
Works on the Benalla-Tocumwal Rd/Healey Rd and Murray Valley Hwy/Campbell Rd intersections are expected to be completed by mid-2026.
