On September 24, detectives from the Cobram Crime Investigation Unit, along with Yarrawonga Police, executed a search warrant at a Yarrawonga address after reports of counterfeit notes being used throughout the region.
The search found about $4000 in alleged counterfeit money as well as other nexus evidence to support the investigation.
Police are reminding local businesses to be vigilant with any purchases using $50 or $100 notes and to contact 000 if they believe counterfeit notes have been used.
A Yarrawonga man will appear in Cobram Magistrates Court later this year in relation to the matter.
Drink driving
It seems the public were well behaved over the long weekend with just two people charged with drink driving offences.
On Friday, September 26 police intercepted a vehicle on Woods Road, Yarrawonga and conducted an Evidentiary Breath Test.
The female driver, who was the holder of a probationary licence, and returned a positive reading of 0.048.
She was served with an immediate suspension of her licence for three months and summonsed to appear in Cobram Court.
Her vehicle was impounded for 30 days.
On Sunday, September 28, police intercepted a vehicle on Tungamah Road, Burramine and conducted an Evidentiary Breath Test.
The male driver returned a reading of 0.132. He received an infringement and his licence will be cancelled and disqualified for 13 months.
