This year's national theme is ‘Your Year to Volunteer’, and the events will bring volunteers, community members and organisations together.
Each year, council hosts events across different townships throughout the shire. This year the celebrations are heading to Cobram and Numurkah.
Moira Shire Council chair administrator Graeme Emonson said volunteers were the heartbeat of regional communities and their contribution could not be overstated.
“Every day, hundreds of people across our towns give their time, their skills and their energy to support their neighbours, strengthen our community organisations and make this region a better place for everyone," Dr Emonson said.
"National Volunteer Week is the perfect opportunity to pause and say thank you.
“I encourage everyone to come along to one of our free events to celebrate the extraordinary people who make Moira Shire the wonderful community it is."
The events will feature inspiring local guest speakers, a volunteer-inspired short film, fun games, great prizes and light refreshments.
