MDEC secretary Julie Coller has been a member for 12 years and said the club was all about “fun and horses”.
MDEC president Sue Lucas has also been a member for 12 years and has loved horses since she was a young girl.
“I can remember when I was eight, my dad leading me on this little black Shetland pony through the blackberry bushes, that's my very first memory of me on a horse,” she said.
Mrs Lucas said the group organised various inclusive activities such as dressage, bush rides, road rides, show jumping and navigation, which was the most popular.
“You go in pairs, and you get a map with cryptic clues ... and the most answers you get right in the allotted time, you're more likely to win,” she said.

MDEC member Bianca Scott said her favourite part about the club was how inclusive everyone was.
“Everyone helps everyone,” she said.
Mrs Coller said a big part of the club was supporting each other.
“If we've got a couple of riders that are a bit nervous, we won't just ride off and leave them behind,” she said.
MDEC treasurer Susan Olson competes in dressage and said members could ride either Western or English.
“We are affiliated with the Horse Riding Club Association of Victoria and we do competitions ... there’s dressage navigation rides, three-phase equitation ... so it’s for people of all disciplines,” she said.
“Not everybody in the club competes, but if they want to compete they can, and you get assessed by a qualified assessor.

“We also do casual rides out, and sometimes we have lessons.”
All the women agreed that horse riding was an “addiction”, and the friendships they had gained through the club were a part of what made it great.
MDEC holds a rally on the fourth Sunday of every month and is hosting a navigation ride for all members at the end of March.
