The presentation of a commemorative plaque to Legatee Gavon Armstrong, acknowledging his contribution of 22 consecutive years as secretary, was one of the highlights of the event at the Kyabram Club.
“Gavon has been amazing with his support and knowledge over a considerable period of time,” Mr Lilford said.
Legatee Ian Danahay has stepped up into the role.
Mr Armstrong was quick to point out how his wife Helen had played a pivotal role in ensuring that his secretarial duties were completed on time and in full.
The legatees attending enthusiastically agreed and a huge bouquet of flowers was presented to Mrs Armstrong.
Earlier, the Armstrong’s daughter Fiona McCallum had played the Last Post and Reveillie during the opening ceremony and both were justifiably proud.

Ms McCallum’s grandfather, Ted Armstrong, was equally proud when as a Year 11 student she had also played the trumpet at an Anzac Day service in Violet Town many years previously.
Interestingly, Ted Armstrong was the long-time secretary of the RSL.
Past chairperson Peter Fitzgerald was pleased to induct a new member Shane Walley into the Kyabram Legacy Group.
The first of the young guest speakers the members heard from was no stranger to many in the club, as Jack Norris had been previously involved in various Legacy Lone Pine ceremonies while Kyabram P-12 school captain.
While still a young man, Jack provided an insight into his fledgling career pathway.
From his involvement with the National Party headquarters straight after leaving Kyabram P-12, to completing a university degree and now working in the Victorian parliamentary office of State Member for Shepparton Kim O’Keefe.
Sporting activities include cricket, but he made special note of the great satisfaction derived from his Goulburn Valley football umpiring.
Following on was Xavier Powles, who was a recipient of the Colin Sinclair Kokoda Scholarship, organised through State Member for Murray Plains Peter Walsh in 2025.
Xavier recounted his experiences walking the historic Kokoda trail in July last year and both the considerable physical and emotional challenges involved.
Currently, a Year 12 student at St Augustine’s College he also acknowledged the generous financial support of the Kyabram Club.
Thanking the guest speakers on behalf of all the guests was Campaspe Shire Mayor Daniel Mackrell, who congratulated both the young speakers for their positive and insightful presentations that were well received by all in attendance.
