Held at the Cobram Senior Citizens Hall, the club final featured 12 students from Cobram Primary School, St Joseph's Primary School and Cobram Anglican Grammar School, with about 70 people in attendance.
Students competed in two age divisions — Years 3 and 4, and Years 5 and 6 — delivering prepared speeches before responding to an impromptu question.
Cobram Lions Club Junior Public Speaking Competition co-ordinator Janet Austin said every student was a winner simply by taking part.
“The kids were absolutely amazing,” she said.
“It was good to see the kids getting up, having a go and doing something that’s probably a little bit challenging for them and new.
“Last year we had Cobram students representing Cobram at state level in the Leo of the Year and the Youth of the Year competitions, so the kids in Cobram are doing really well.”

Years 5 and 6 students were given four minutes to present a speech on the topic: If you could have dinner with anyone in the world — a real person, past or present — who would it be, why, and what would you serve them for dinner?
They were also given 10 minutes to prepare a one-minute response to an impromptu question.
Years 3 and 4 students spoke for up to three minutes on the topic: If you could go on a holiday anywhere in Australia, where would you go and why? Tell us about it — what can you see and what would you do there?
The overall winner for Years 3 and 4 was Aidan Macheda and runner-up was Ruby Swift, both from Cobram Anglican Grammar School.
In the Years 5 and 6 division, the overall winner was Sophia Nicosia from St Joseph’s Primary School and the runner-up was Alice Lebner from Cobram Anglican Grammar School.
Aidan Macheda and Sophia Nicosia will now represent the Cobram Lions Club and their schools at the regional final on August 16.
