Held at the Deniliquin RSL Club, the day included talks, one-on-one sessions and new fun careers activities.
The popular careers program has run for a number of years, returning two years ago after a COVID-19 forced hiatus.
Aimed at Year 11 students, the full-day program gave students the opportunity to hear from representatives of local businesses and participate in a series of practical sessions designed to assist them with formal interview and job and scholarship application processes.
The school’s careers team recruited presenters to guide students through how to present for an interview, grooming, presentation and appropriate language (including body language).
The program was hosted at the Deniliquin RSL Club, who waived the hire fee, and included a mix of regional professionals and former Deniliquin High School students now working in varied industries.
The keynote speakers were Jess Kitchin and Danny Middlewood from Highlight Creative.
Other locals shared their wisdom in the speed networking section, sharing details for their respective industries.
Guests for these roundtable discussions included Maisy Edwards from Hutcheon and Pearce, Riley Chaplin from RCC Electrical, Lauren Barlow from Murray Irrigation Limited, Daniel Zrajko from All Stars Martial Arts academy and FitNow!, Harrison Wright from Switched On Mobiles and Monty Jones from NSW Forestry.
Students also took part in activities on job readiness such as interviewing techniques, and discussion about different career paths available today.
