The Strathmerton Lions Club will be hosting its 27th country music event, with the artist line up to include The Stewiesand The Millwards, along with Steve Belland Alastair McLean.
Fred Coburn has been a member of the Lions club for 46 years now and is one of the committee members for the music event.
“John Hall was our president in 2012 when at a Lions meeting, he asked the members to think about another project to raise funds for the club,” he said.
“Trevor Sutton and myself, with our wives, regularly caravaned around Queensland, NSW and many parts of Victoria to attend country music events.
“We always talked about the Lions having a show at Strathmerton... the idea was put to John Hall, which was then put to a meeting one night.
“Members agreed to the idea, so I was asked to form a committee of five members and do it.”

The first Country Music Event was held on November 14, 2012 with artists Tom Maxwell and The Hoffmans performing and more than 220 people in attendance.
“Unfortunately, our then-president, John Hall, passed away beforehand and never got to savour the work and effort put in by his club,” Mr Coburn said.
The 27th Country Music Event will be held on Saturday, May 9 at the Strathmerton Public Hall, with doors opening at 11.30am for a 12.30pm start.
Mr Coburn said all the funds from the event will go back to the Lions club, which will then go back into the community.
Lucky door prizes will also feature at the show, with added raffles available thanks to the support of Supreme Meats of Cobram and Ritchies IGA Cobram.
Event tickets are $30 per person and include afternoon tea.
A pre-event luncheon will be available for purchase and drinks are BYO.
