Flood study survey work begins

Surveyor Price Merrett may visit homes in town to measure floor heights. It will also visually inspect buildings’ exteriors to assess flood proofing.

Floor heights will be measured at outside doorways, with surveyors not needing to enter buildings.

Council’s infrastructure director Kate Lemon has asked for community co-operation with access and information to help inform the study.

“This survey work is crucial for us to gather accurate data that will help in developing effective flood mitigation strategies,” she said.

“By participating in this survey, residents are contributing to a safer and more resilient Rochester.

“The data collected will play a vital role in our efforts to protect the community from future flood events.”

Crucial information, like flood level marks, are asked to be shown to surveyors so they can be recorded.

Residents can subscribe through the Campaspe Shire Council website for flood study updates at www.campaspe.vic.gov.au/rochesterfloodstudy
