On Thursday, May 21, Seymour College is inviting families to attend its primary and special education open family afternoon – held at the Stewart St campus between 2.30pm and 3.13pm.
Secondary families are welcome to request a tour at any time.
Seymour College principal Debbie Oliver said the school had a generational family feel, which she could personally attest to.
“Seymour College is uniquely connected to our local towns, with some families having attended the school over three generations,” Ms Oliver said.
“In my own family from Nagambie, my mother, her siblings, cousins and friends attended Seymour High School.
“I also completed my own schooling here in 1980 when the school was called Seymour Technical High School.”

Since Ms Oliver’s schooling days, Seymour College has grown in a number of ways.
“Our school has developed over the years and is now a primary, special education and secondary college,” Ms Oliver said.
“In our secondary sector, we have 470 enrolments, which provides us with the numbers to offer a wide range of subjects in VCE, and also maintain a smaller school vibe.”
Ms Oliver said Seymour College often welcomed students from surrounding local primary schools as they began their secondary school journeys.
“Our secondary sector has welcomed transition visits in from Puckapunyal, Nagambie and Avenel primary schools recently, and (teacher) Ben Tarran has visited the local primary schools over the last two weeks,” Ms Oliver said.
Along with the upcoming primary school open afternoon, Seymour College held a well-attended open night earlier in the month.
“Our open night was well attended in early May; however, if families missed this, you can also contact the school directly for a personalised tour,” Ms Oliver said.
“I look forward to welcoming families to Seymour College.”
