Daffodil Day event shines light on local care

Community members gathered at Stanhope Health on Monday, August 17 to mark Daffodil Day, raising funds for cancer research and shining a light on support available to those navigating a cancer diagnosis.

Hosted by Kyabram District Health Service, the event gave attendees the opportunity to learn about local cancer resource nurse Lisa Priday.

Drawing on more than 45 years of nursing experience, her role helps patients and their families access information and guidance closer to home throughout treatment, reducing the need to travel to larger regional centres.

“Having access to someone with Lisa’s experience and knowledge right here in our community can make such a difference for patients and their families,” KDHS chief executive Anne McEvoy said.

“Cancer treatment can be an overwhelming journey, and knowing there is someone local who can help people understand their options and navigate the health system is incredibly valuable.”

Following the information session, attendees enjoyed morning tea and participated in a raffle, with food and prizes donated by local businesses.

More than $250 was raised on the day, with a final fundraising tally yet to be announced.
