Moira Shire Council is calling on the community for suggestions on how to turn the iconic ‘Cobram-Barooga Tourism’ building into a vibrant town attraction.

Shire community general manager Sally Rice said council was looking for a private operator to "activate" the building, suggesting a "dynamic hospitality venture" with a "visitor information point".
“This facility has traditionally been used to serve the needs of visitors to Cobram and, through this expressions of interest process, we hope to reactivate the under-utilised areas to better service the modern-day needs and interests of local residents and visitors,” she said.
The building sits near to the new piazza area in Cobram and is being used as a council-operated visitor information centre.
Ms Rice said while the process would allow anyone in the community to submit a proposal, it did not guarantee a proposal would be accepted.
“There is no guarantee we will receive an acceptable proposal and if a lease doesn’t go ahead, the facility will continue to be managed by council,” she said.
Submissions can be made via the Moira Shire website and close at 5 pm on Wednesday, March 18.
