Cobram local Jeffrey Russell is working with Skillzone Sports owner Adam Gatcum to launch a table tennis club.
Mr Russell has been breaking in the new tables that arrived on May 7.
“I started coming down to have a hit about six months ago and got sick of playing on these older tables, so I bought two new tables online for about $360,” he said.
“We want to get some people down here to get involved.
“Table tennis caters for everybody age and ability and runs all year round.”
Mr Gatcum said the donation was extremely generous.
“We want to grow participation and get people to utilise the facility,” he said.
“Jeff is very passionate about table tennis and is happy to promote the sport.
“The Cobram Sports Stadium is here for the community to access and we have regular opening hours from Monday to Friday from 5 pm to 7 pm.”
Skillzone Sports recently became affiliated with Table Tennis Victoria, whose representatives visited Cobram Sports Stadium on May 12 as part of a regional tour.
TTV participation and programs manager Sean Sturrock said the goal was to expose interest in regional towns.
“We're trying to make sure younger kids come through to drive the clubs for the next 10 years and get them involved in sports that they wouldn't normally do,” he said.
“Terms two and three are a popular time for table tennis as the weather turns colder.”
Table tennis is on Mondays from 5.30 pm to 8 pm, costing $5.
A competition is on Tuesdays at 6 pm and costs $10 for adults and $5 for children.

Skillzone Sports is seeking expressions of interest for Walking Sports on Mondays from 4 pm to 5 pm.
Walking Sports is a program designed to be inclusive of all participants regardless of physical wellbeing and age.
The sports include walking soccer, walking football, walking netball, walking basketball and table tennis.
Making new friends and having a chat over a cup of tea after the game will all be part of the experience.
To register interest or for more information, phone Mr Gatcum on 0400 615 145.
