Leah Willis has been the principal at the school for 17 years and said she loved seeing the students thrive in the learning environment they created.
“A lot of students come from mainstream, and once they come here, they just develop in leaps and bounds because it’s a small environment, three staff generally in the classroom with six to seven students,” she said.
“Our staff are amazing, they’re incredible and really dedicated ... they turn up every day and do their job and just nurture the students beautifully ... I really appreciate them.”
Multiple student-of-the-year awards were handed out to students from each of the home rooms, with their teachers reading out a beautiful message before handing them a certificate.

The very special Montana and Cadel award was also handed out in remembrance of a brother and sister who passed away 10 years ago and were loved throughout school.
“They had a condition that was degenerative, and it was tough going for them, so it's a try-your-best award,” Leah said.
Montana and Jake each won the Montana and Cadel award, receiving a gift as well as a certificate.

After the awards ceremony concluded, ‘the Signing Stars’, a sign language performance group, presented two songs led by occupational therapist Celine, wellbeing officer Beck and teacher Jess.

Leah said learning to sign had helped the students immensely, and they had enjoyed getting involved in the performance group, which also took to the stage at the recent 2025 all-abilities talent show.
“The signing stars is a new group that’s been a lunchtime activity for a group of students, and was developed because of a student who has cochlear implants,” she said.
Music teacher and band leader Matt Hicks led the student band in their performance at the ceremony.
