Whether with sporting clubs, arts groups or schools, volunteers of all stripes are encouraged to attend a suite of afternoon teas organised by the Moira Shire Council.
Moira Shire Council chair administrator Graeme Emonson said the week was a chance to show appreciation for the people who worked tirelessly behind the scenes.
“We congratulate the hundreds of people in our shire who generously commit many hours each week, to support the running of Moira’s community facilities, local emergency services, Meals on Wheels, event organisers, sporting, community and school committees, community transport drivers, and op shop assistants,” he said.
“Volunteers are such an important part of communities in Moira Shire, and play a key role in building our communities, supporting recreation, events and community services.”
Moira Shire volunteer celebratory afternoon teas will be held on:
- Monday, May 19, 1pm-3pm – Yarroweyah Memorial Hall
- Wednesday, May 21, 1pm-3pm – St James Public Hall
- Thursday, May 22, 1pm-3pm – Picola Public Hall
- Friday, May 23, 1pm-3pm – Wunghnu Recreation Reserve
Courtesy buses are available for travel from the largest town nearest to each of the four venues.
