Scheduled to take place on Thursday, September 17, the event is a collaborative effort between Seymour College and Our Place, and has been proven to be a valuable platform for showcasing opportunities available to young people with disabilities as they transition from school to the next chapter of their lives.
Over the years, the event has seen success with local services, which always get on board to showcase what they have to offer.
“We’re incredibly grateful for the support we’ve received from local services,” Seymour College assistant principal Kristie Luckman said.
“Now, we’re looking to grow our network to businesses who can offer work experience and employment opportunities.”
Seymour College Victorian Pathways Certificate teacher Tim Clarke said the students underwent extensive preparation to ensure successful placements outside school.
“Our VPC students complete a two-year program focused on employment readiness,” he said.
“They gain real-world qualifications like RSA, white card and first aid.
“We carefully match students with suitable placements, and the feedback from employers is overwhelmingly positive.”
Support is available for both students and employers in their placement journey.
Many students also have access to funded supports, making the transition into employment smoother and more sustainable.
“We want local businesses to see the value these young people bring,” Mr Clarke said.
“They’re resilient, skilled and eager to be active members of the community.
“Often, all they need is a little support to get started — and once they do, they thrive.”
The All Abilities Pathways Expo is more than just an event — it’s a movement towards inclusion, empowerment and opportunity.
Organisers hope that more employers will embrace the chance to make a lasting impact.
“You might just meet your next valuable team member,” Ms Luckman said.
“Come along, connect and be part of something truly meaningful.”
The event will be held at Our Place, at the Seymour College Campus, between 2.30pm and 4.30pm.
