Response to Barooga pool funding

Readers responded with mixed opinions to the news Berrigan Shire Council had pledged two annual payments of $50 000 towards running the Sporties Health and Fitness indoor heated pool, on the condition Moira Shire Council contributes the same.

Here’s what some of you had to say about the announcement:

Jen North: Great to hear of a possibility to keep it opened. It's an asset to the town!

Linda Devening: Cobram needs its own indoor pool first. Not happy my rates go to another shire before they fix the need here first.

Leigh Woollard: This is great news but there is no talk now of the maintenance upgrades being done. I hope they are done before opening. Memberships should be paid prior to opening as this is the basis the pool is opening on. Hope everyone who has voiced their support is ready to purchase their annual membership as soon as the increased price is announced. Hoping they have a gym, a pool, and a combined membership and even a swim club or group membership for training groups.

Sharon Scott-Sutton: Great news but if the temp of the pool was right you would get more people willing to swim.

Debbie Johns: Moira shire need to spend money on the Cobram pool before committing our rate funds to another pool.
