BBQ for bush fire relief

Cobram Ecumenical Prayer Group, a multi-denominational prayer group, is working with local churches to run a fundraising barbecue to support those affected by the bushfires.

The barbecue on Saturday runs from noon to 3 pm at Mivo Park, and is a combined church effort with Cobram Lions Club providing the food and McDonald’s providing cold water.

There will be face painting for the children and inspirational music.

Pastor Darrin Clarke from Ignite Life Church at Cobram said: “Prayer will be available to anyone in need. Our hope is to not only raise funds for those affected, but to provided support for those in our community who have been or know somebody who has been severely affected by the bushfires.”

There have been many kind offers from community members all wanting to do something practical to help the effort.

Deborah Pagler-Geary from the Cobram Ecumenical Prayer group said: "This is a wonderful opportunity to come together as one in the Body of Christ, with the Cobram and greater communities in the Goulburn Valley region, to love and support one another, especially through this extremely difficult time of the Australian bushfire crisis. A big thank you to the Lions club and various commercial outlets for their willing participation."

All proceeds go to the Lions to be distributed to those in need. If you want to help, come and buy a sausage on Saturday, it is a small thing but if everyone does it the funds will add up and something extraordinary can happen.
