A dawn service was held at the Cobram memorial and Sporties Barooga at 6 am, with another service held in Cobram at 10 am.
Cobram-Barooga RSL secretary Glenda Mann attended the Barooga service, with about 50 people attending.
“They were well received, we believe the dawn service at Cobram had more than 100 attended,” she said.
Navy Captain Tony Miskelly and army Sergeant Justin Serong, a member of the 20th Regiment of the Royal Australian Airforce in Brisbane, also attended.
The Murray Border Flying Club provided a 10-plane fly past.
“The defence force encouraged people to go back to their towns in uniform,” Ms Mann said.
“Last year on Anzac Day we were only allowed to have two people at the memorial, so it's definitely a great improvement.
“It was a successful day and we can only hope that things will get more back to normal.
“We had amazing support from the schools as well who produced artwork that was on display next to the memorial, and they came down separately to lay wreaths.”
2021 Anzac Day community walk
Organisers would like to thank everyone that helped with the walk and those that participated and supported the Anzac Day community walk on April 25, especially Moira Shire Council, Cobram police officers, Cobram District Pipe Band and Cobram SES.
It was awesome to see so many people wanting to pay their respect to those that have served our country.
Unfortunately, it was very short notice and many missed out or weren't aware of the walk, but hopefully next year things well return to pre COVID-19 times.
