Wodonga Heart 0 lt Cobram Roar 13
The weekend’s game saw one for the record books. Cobram Roar’s star import Mitchell Speechley-Price stole the headlines with an impressive 10 goals for the day.
Included with the 10 goals were penalties, a free kick, headed goals and with both feet, which shows his range and versatility in front of goal.
Going into the game, Roar players had a good feeling they would come away with the three points, however the job still needed to be done.
Playing-coach Bill Puckett asked the boys to approach the game with respect and professionalism — to do the simple tasks and the game will take care of itself.
Which is exactly what happened as the Roar’s ability and young talent shone through.
With the scoreline 0-6 at half-time with two other goals from Puckett and Shaun Willis, it would have been easy to take the foot off the gas in the second half as the game should have already be won.
However a further seven goals in the second half, six to Speechley-Price and an own goal finished the game off in style.
Cobram Roar now head into the Easter break fifth on the ladder, winning four of its opening five games.
After the break, Roar will have a tough couple months playing teams all fighting for the top six spaces, so the great continued support will be needed.

Wodonga Heart 1 lt Cobram Roar 5
Wodonga Heart hosted a home game for the under-14 girls competition at Willo Park.
The Wodonga girls started the match in fine style, passing the ball around to each other giving Cobram little opportunity.
However Cobram conceded a goal at that stage, which woke the girls, pushing them to stick to their game plan and, through sheer persistence and tidy passing opportunities, saw them rise above their opponents, scoring the next five goals of the match to seal the game and come away with the points of the round.

Wodonga Heart 0 lt Cobram Roar 4
Back on the road, Roar was looking for a positive start to the top of the table clash with Wodonga. Warm temperatures meant a fast start would be very important.
The first 10 minutes of the game showed signs of a tough game for both sides. Wodonga had four standout players, but luckily Roar had enough depth in their defence to keep them a bay.
