Cobram Lawn Tennis Club has started the 2017-18 season in the Goulburn Murray.

Cobram Crocs and Cobram Cobras will contest division three.

This week Cobras travelled to Shepparton to face the Coyotes. It was a tight contest with the Cobras going down nine sets 87 games to five sets 79 games.

Mario Bruni was a three-set winner, winning his singles 6-4, his doubles with Matt Ross-Soden 8-3 and mixed with his wife Helen 8-6.

Jack Cassidy is playing great tennis. He won his singles 6-0 and then lost two tie-breaks in his doubles and mixed 8-7.

This week the Cobras travel to Kialla Park.

In the other match of the day, Cobram Crocs travelled to Kyabram to face the Bombers hoping for their first win of the season, but they had to settle with a draw, seven sets 78 games apiece.

Luke Bramley is playing great tennis and came away a three-set winner. He won his singles 6-4, partnered with Rod McLean in the doubles to win 8-5, then partnered with Sue Whylie in the mixed for another 8-5 victory.

The Crocs were three games up going into the mixed doubles match, but unfortunately could only come away with the draw.

This week the Crocs head to Tatura to take on the Water Hens. Good luck to both teams.

Thursday tennis social night is running smoothly with 10 women’s teams and seven men’s teams.

This week’s matches are: Moggettes v Zulus, Moggulators v Hospital, BTS v Ring Ins, Making a Racquet v 11 between Us, Mums w Teenagers v Espresso Martini, Dambros v Moggatron, Duece Bags v Poolside, Pales Ales v Bolt Shop. Lagers have the bye.

Saturday junior tennis is in full swing with eight teams competing.

This week’s matches are: A-grade — Black v Pink, Yellow v Green; B-grade — Red v Blue, Purple v White. Yellow is on canteen duty.
