Yarrawonga produced one of its most complete performances of the season on Saturday, dismantling Wodonga Raiders by 107 points to further cement its position inside the top five and build valuable momentum heading towards the business end of the season.
From the opening bounce, the Pigeons set the tone with relentless pressure around the contest, elite ball movement and a defensive structure that gave the Raiders little opportunity to score. The visitors managed just one behind in the opening term as Yarrawonga piled on five goals to establish complete control of the contest.
While the second quarter was more of an arm wrestle, the Pigeons continued to dominate the key statistical areas. Their work at stoppages laid the foundation, winning the clearance count 38-26, while also finishing well ahead in contested possessions, tackles and inside 50s (52-30). Those numbers reflected a side that consistently won the hard ball before using it with composure.
The game was blown apart after half-time as Yarrawonga slammed on eight goals in a devastating third quarter. Their ball movement became increasingly slick, their pressure never dropped and the Raiders simply had no answers as the margin ballooned beyond 70 points.
Equally impressive was the defensive effort. The Raiders were restricted to just three goals for the match, meaning the Pigeons have conceded only four goals across their past two away games, an extraordinary defensive achievement built on pressure throughout the ground and outstanding organisation behind the ball.
Coach Leigh Williams led from the front with one of his finest performances of the year. Playing deep forward, Williams continually provided a contest, clunking five contested marks and finishing with five goals. His presence not only hurt the Raiders on the scoreboard but also created space for the club's dangerous small forwards to thrive.
No one benefited more than Charley McKenna, whose work rate and blistering pace again proved impossible to contain. McKenna finished with five goals of his own and continues to demonstrate how dangerous he becomes when afforded space by Williams' commanding presence inside 50.
The midfield again drove the performance. Cameron Wilson was outstanding with 35 disposals and 16 contested possessions, while Harrison Wheeler continued his exceptional season with 29 disposals and 12 contested possessions, combining toughness with polish around stoppages.
William Wheeler was equally influential, gathering 27 disposals, including an incredible 19 contested possessions. His clean hands in traffic and elite decision-making continue to make him one of Yarrawonga's most consistent performers.
Across half-back, Daniel Howe once again controlled the game with his intercept work and composed ball use, while Reid Clarke continued his outstanding season with 24 disposals and eight marks.
Clarke consistently finds plenty of the football and covers the ground tirelessly, reinforcing why hard work and character pays off.

The Yarrawonga Reserves kept their finals hopes alive with a commanding 99-point victory over Wodonga Raiders on Saturday.
With both sides entering the contest desperate for the four points, the Pigeons, despite still being undermanned, made their intentions clear from the opening bounce. They dominated early to establish a three-goal lead at quarter-time before blowing the game open with a five-goal second term.
Swingman Todd Muldoon was the standout up forward, returning to familiar territory after spending much of his Yarrawonga football in other roles. His five-goal haul in just three quarters proved the catalyst for the Pigeons' dominant display.
Across half-back, Tyler Lovell, Jack Eales and Jack McKay controlled the game with their intercept marking and rebound. While occasional lapses in discipline gave the Raiders some opportunities, the trio were outstanding in restricting the visitors to just three goals for the afternoon.
Further forward, Lewis Henley and Patrick Waugh capitalised on the midfield's dominance, each playing important roles in the convincing victory. Henley finished with four goals, while Waugh also booted four as the Pigeons cruised to a percentage-boosting win.

Goal Scorers: 3 – Jai Sneddon, 2 – Sam Trembath.
Yarrawonga's Thirds were left to rue missed opportunities after falling to Wodonga Raiders by 16 points on Saturday.
The Pigeons struggled to make the most of their chances in front of goal, kicking 8.9 while several missed opportunities proved costly in a match that remained within reach for most of the afternoon.
Although they fought to stay in the contest, the Pigeons were unable to consistently match the Raiders' work rate. At times they were outworked around the contest and didn't cover the spacious ground as effectively as their opponents, allowing the Raiders to maintain scoreboard pressure.
With the game in the balance during the final quarter, the visitors won the key moments to pull away and secure the victory.
Despite the disappointing result, Oliver Tresize, Archie Skehan, Samuel Trembath, Lachlan Wren, Lenny Lonergan and Charlie Hargreaves all battled hard throughout the four quarters. Jai Sneddon led the way with three goals, while Sam Trembath added two.
