Coinciding with Mother’s Day on Sunday, May 11, the Cobram Roar Football Club will host a Women’s Football Week special for round nine at Apex Park.
It will be a club day like no other, with the game schedule adjusted to enable the women’s and girl’s matches to be the focal points of the day.
Meanwhile, there’ll be a grazing table for all women and girls to savour. A wall display will showcase the women who have involved themselves with the club over the years.
“We’re trying to showcase all the contributions they’ve made over the years,” committee member and organiser Jamie Mete said.
Casey Chandler was awarded best on field in the recent Roar division one women's clash with Boomers FC at Jelbart Park.
It’ll also be the perfect chance to celebrate the mothers in the community, with a half-time raffle packed with prizes donated by local businesses.
On the field, the Roar women are expecting a tight contest when they face Myrtleford Savoy.
“Last year it was a really fun day,” Mrs Mete said.
“We also invite the mothers to walk out, as well, with the players for their game.
“A lot of local businesses also helped, with contributions of food. Everyone has pitched in and helped us out, for example, with the grazing table.”
