Cobram’s under-13 netball side was valiant in its pursuit of the Murray league crown on Saturday at Moama Recreation Reserve, toiling hard on a warm, sunny day, however it was unable to overcome Echuca United.

The junior Tigers battled until the final buzzer, but ultimately went down 22-35 against a well-oiled Eagles outfit.

A slow start to the contest saw the Eagles out to a 9-1 advantage, however Cobram battled to reel the margin in to trail 9-5 at quarter-time.

But Echuca United managed to pull away again in the second term, the Eagles’ lead hitting 10 goals at one stage, although again Cobram managed to shave off some of the deficit just before the break, with the score at half-time 19-11 in favour of Echuca United.

The Tigers were closer again at three-quarter time, outscoring the Eagles 8-7 in a brilliant third term to give themselves a faint sniff at 26-19 behind heading into the last quarter.
But United found an extra gear, handing the Tigers an eventual 13-goal defeat.
It was a brave effort from Cobram, who lost just one regular season contest for the year and was the clear benchmark along with the Eagles throughout the campaign, each finishing with a 17-1 home-and-away record. But it wasn’t to be for the Tigers in 2026.
