It might have had something to do with the anniversary celebrations happening around the corner, but Cobram’s netballers had a field day in a round nine derby against cross-river rivals Barooga at Scott Reserve.
Cobram’s A-grade netballers managed to break their eight-game winning drought after claiming victory over favourites Barooga in a physical contest that saw Hawks goal shooter Chelsea Marks go down early in the first term with a ruptured Achilles.

The second quarter was a tight contest, with Cobram and Barooga trading blows, sharing the lead by a margin of just one point over much of the term.
But Cobram’s Alahni Hulley proved lethal in the attack, leading the Tigers to a 20-16 lead at half-time.
In the third quarter, Cobram made the most of its chances and extended its lead to 29-23 at the final break.
Despite Barooga’s best efforts, the Tigers managed to increase the margin ever further, eventually winning 41-32.
Cobram enjoyed the spoils across the remainder of the day’s action, with the B-grade, C-grade, C-grade reserve, under-17s, under-15s and under-13s all taking wins.
