Cobram’s persistent A-grade side has clocked its second win of the season after a bitterly contested fight with visiting Finley.
Cobram had a slow start across the first half, falling behind with a half-time deficit, but quickly settled into gear after the main break.
With snappy passages of play moving the ball end to end into the third quarter, Cobram was able to quash the Finley attack with ease.
It continued even as Finley grappled to shift the momentum its way in the fourth and final quarter, with the scoreline ultimately going in Cobram’s favour 40-37.
Standout performances from Molly Poole and Amy Carter led the B-grade home to a nail-biting one-goal win, 46-45, while the contest was just as close in C-grade, 36-30.
C-reserve made things look a little too easy, claiming a 60-20 win at the final siren.
The 17-and-under side came within biting distance of a win, falling to Finley 36-31, while the 15-and-under and 13-and-under teams enjoyed the spoils with wins of 42-31 and 39-9 respectively.
Across the courts, Barooga’s A-grade side narrowly missed out on their third win of the season, falling to Deniliquin 36-32, while B-grade wore their laurels proudly with a 46-39 win over the Rams.
