Club vice-president Sasha Parish said the club, as well as the Lebner family, received overwhelming support, with players across grades in football and netball wearing Type 1 turquoise socks in solidarity with the Lebner family.
“Having a player who’s directly involved in that... it hit home for a lot more people,” Parish said.
“They were extremely supportive, whether they were there on the day or online.
“It definitely exceeded what we thought.”
Money was raised for the Type 1 Foundation through sock and beanie sales, as well as custom t-shirts made locally by The Sign Society.
Founded in 2015, the Type 1 Foundation is a charity that provides advocacy, support and connection for people impacted by the autoimmune disease.
